Comments of Mark Frederickson, judge at the National Western Stock Show, regarding WNH Fortress:

"This is a very impressive calf. Objectively he has a set of numbers that just are not found too often. Then when you analyze him phenotypically, you like him even better. He has a lot of performance, and he is putting it together in the right package. He has some thickness of quarter, some depth of rib, and some length of body. You analyze him structurally, he is certainly sharp and smooth in that front end. He has a good shoulder to him. He is a bull when you watch him walk, you appreciate his length of stride and ease of movement. Then you analyze his testicle size and frame score, and he is right where we want to be."

"When you get behind him, you certainly appreciate his muscle thickness and his muscle shape . . . a bull that is nicely balanced from one end to the other."

"He (Fortress)puts it all together, phenotypically and genetically, just like you would like to see it done."  Mark Frederickson, judge at the National Western Stock Show, regarding WNH Fortress.  Here Mark was analyzing Fortress as a 13 month old calf, but we can se 3 1/2 years later that Fortress still has it altogether just as he did when he was a calf.

Here is Fortress's First Daughter in Production

Champion Cow/calf
Western Junior Regional, Prineville, OR, June 25, judged by Kevin Jensen

Bred by Forked Tree Ranch and owned by Jenifer Sullivan of Evergreen Acres, FTR Hayley H3 is the first daughter of Fortress to calve.  Hayley calved at 24 months of age and her calf, SF FTR Intrigue 01, is sired by WNH FTR Nizhoni 9814.  Intrigue is 9814's first calf to be born.     Intrigue was two months old at the time of this photo.  This pair was Champion at the Western Junior Regional and will compete at the Junior National in Oklahoma in July.  11 pairs competed in the cow/calf division.  Intrigue was Reserve Champion  in the bull division.

This pair was also Champion Cow/calf at the Oregon State Fair Junior Show and was Reserve Cow/calf Champion in the Open Show at the Oregon State Fair.  "Intrigue" was also Champion Bull in  the Junior Show.

Hayley's Udder

This udder is high and tight.  It is just what you want to see in a two year old heifer.  It will not break down after five or ten years.  The teats are small and should stay small and firm.  You can see in the performance of this stout young calf that this tight udder is doing a great job in providing for his nutritional needs.
